The first images of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It reveal the return of the Warrens and their darkest saga yet. The Conjuring cinematic universe began with the original 2013 film starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The first film was released to critical acclaim and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It full movie director James Wan followed up with The Conjuring 2, another solid entry in the franchise that touched on both the Amityville case and the Enfield poltergeist. However, Ed and Lorraine Warren haven’t always been the focus of the franchise.
All three Annabelle films, The Nun and The Curse of the Llorona also take place within the Conjuring universe, but the upcoming third film will go back to the roots of the franchise and one of the most notorious cases the Warrens were involved in. The Devil Made Me Do It will present the first legal case in which demonic possession was used as a defense.
The Conjuring has become one of the most successful horror franchises of the 21st century and with reports that this third entry in the main series will be the darkest yet, horror fans have one more thing to look forward to in 2021. With a trailer reportedly hitting the internet tomorrow before the film’s June 4 release, The Devil Made Me Do It is shaping up to be one of the events of the year.
